Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as a Musician in Company I, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 at Griffin, GA, and was appointed a Private by September 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was 5th Corporal when he was captured near Gettysburg, PA on 4 or 5 July 1863. He was a prisoner at Fort McHenry to 9 July, then at Fort Delaware. He was transferred to Point Lookout, MD in October 1863 and was exchanged there on 13 (or 18) February 1865.
