He enlisted as a Private in Company B, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and captured nearby on 5 July. He was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD then a prisoner at Fort Delaware. By October 1863 he was at Point Lookout, MD. He was admitted to the Jackson Hospital in Richmond, VA on 8 October 1864 and died there of pneumonia on 21 October 1864.
