Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an 18 year old on his parent's modest farm near Griffin, Spalding County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company I, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin.

On the Campaign

He was probably wounded in the head in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Charlottesville, VA with a gunshot wound in November 1862. He was again wounded in the head, at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864 and was on furlough home to the end of the war.

After the War

By 1870 he was a farmer in Griffin, Spalding County, GA.
