In 1860 he was a 38 year old well digger at Cuthbert in Randolph County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company E, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Boteler's Ford on the Potomac River near Shepherdstown, VA on 19 September 1862.

The rest of the War

From 15 December 1862 to 1 September 1863 he was detailed as assistant enrolling officer in Randolph County, GA. In January 1864 he was detailed to assist Major Richards, Quartermasters Department. There is no later record in his military file.

After the War

He died at home in 1864.
