Before Sharpsburg

He came to America in 1848. He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, his skull fractured, one arm paralyzed, and shot through both thighs.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Richmond and Farmville, VA into January 1863, then furloughed home for 90 days. He was captured at Fisher's Hill, VA on 22 September 1864 and was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD until transferred to Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange on 17 March 1865.

After the War

In 1900 he was a farmer in Whitfield County, GA.
