Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 26 year old farmer at Rough Edge in Troup County, GA, living with his widowed mother and 2 sisters. He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 13th Georgia Infantry, probably in May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough from 4 December 1862 to 4 January 1863. He was captured on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA and then a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He died there of smallpox on 20 October 1863.
