Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 21 year old farmer with his father-in-law Maxey Brooks at Greenville in Meriwether County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 13th Georgia Infantry on 10 May 1862 in LaGrange, GA.
On the Campaign
He may have been wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862, and was detailed to tend wounded soldiers on 19 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He returned to his Company on 19 November 1862. He was captured at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864 and held at Point Lookout until exchanged at James River, VA on 18 March 1865.
After the War
By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer at Panthersville, DeKalb County, GA.
