He enlisted as a Private in Company D, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was appointed 5th Sergeant, date not given, and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

Except for a brief period in 1895-96 when he lived in Alabama, he was a lifelong Thomaston, Upson County, GA resident, and he gave his post-war occupation as "merchandising." In 1900 he was retired and living with his daughter and her family in Thomaston.
