Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 30 year old master carpenter in Cuthbert, Randolph County, GA. He enrolled as Junior 2nd Lieutenant of Company E, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA. He was appointed Senior 2nd Lieutenant on 23 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 2 December 1862 and to Captain on 4 April 1864. He was wounded by a gunshot to his left shoulder about 12 May 1864, was home on furlough, and returned to his Company on 20 July. He was mortally wounded at Fisher's Hill, VA on 22 September 1864 and died of wounds on 3 October 1864, place not given.
