Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an 18 year old farmer with his sisters Martha (head of household), Sarah, and Clementine at Fayetteville, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough to Georgia to 20 January 1863. He was detailed as a nurse to hospitals in Richmond, VA from about 7 June through at least 31 December 1863. He was killed at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864.
