Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Boteler's Ford near Shepherdstown, VA on 19 September (and/or at Sharpsburg on 17 September) 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA by 5 October and furloughed home for 60 days on 12 October, returning on 3 December 1862. He was wounded in head and captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863, and died of wounds in a US Army hospital there on 6 July 1863.

His widow Rutha filed for his final pay in December 1863.

He's probably the Daniel Thomas who was a 21 year old farm worker on the Powell place at Dawson, Terrell County, GA in 1860.
