Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 26 year old physician living with the Tucker family and others in a house in Hillsborough, Highland County, OH; probably a partner of Dr. Isaac W Tucker. He was commissioned Surgeon of the 12th Ohio Infantry on 22 April 1861, but discharged to accept appointment as Surgeon, US Volunteers on 4 April 1862. He was assigned to the staff of Brigadier General Cox.

On the Campaign

He was Medical Director of the Kanawha Division, Ninth Army Corps on the Maryland Campaign.

The rest of the War

He continued in General Cox's staff as Medical Director when that officer was assigned command of the District of Western Virginia in October 1862. He was discharged on 22 October 1863 and died on 1 December 1863.
