Before Antietam
In 1869 he was a 28 year old mill worker in Plainfield, CT. He enlisted on 3 September 1861 and mustered as a Corporal in Company F, 8th Connecticut Infantry on the 23rd. He was on General Burnside's expedition to North Carolina in early 1862.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was promoted to Sergeant on December 1862 and reenlisted in December 1863. He was wounded at Walthall Junction, VA on 7 May 1864 and appointed 2nd Lieutenant of Company B, 11th Connecticut Infantry on 13 May 1865. He was promoted to First Lieutenant of Company K on 2 November 1865 and was briefly regimental Quartermaster from 25 November to muster-out on 21 December 1865.
After the War
He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, 14th United States Infantry on 9 August 1867 and promoted to First Lieutenant on 23 November 1874. He was still on active duty when he died in a fall in December 1886.
