He enrolled at Graysport, MS as 2nd Lieutenant of Company D, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 14 August 1861. He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 27 June 1862

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed home to recover, promoted to Captain on 3 November, and was back with his Company by the end of 1862. He was killed in action at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864.
