Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Columbus, MS as a Private in Company G, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 1 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Sharpsburg on 27 September and was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA by 26 October. He was furloughed for 30 days on 27 November 1862.

His Company (K) was converted to cavalry and attached as Company F to the 8th (Wade's) Confederate Cavalry (2d Regiment, Mississippi and Alabama Cavalry) in January 1863, but he was listed as a deserter to the enemy in March 1863 with no later record.
