Basic information from McLernon1. He was 32 years old when he enlisted in New York City in August 1861. He was promoted from Sergeant to First Sergeant on 5 August 1862. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in October to date from 17 September, but cashiered 25 May 1863.
