Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 16 year old on his parents farm near Oakland in Yalobusha County, MS. He enlisted at Graysport, MS as a Private in Company D, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 14 August 1861. He was wounded at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded again, by a gunshot through his left thigh which broke the bone, in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged for disability on about 3 November 1862.

After the War

By 1880 he was a farmer in Calhoun County, MS.
