He enlisted as a Private in Company G, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 27 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was slightly wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was back with his Company by November 1862. He was captured near Chancellorsville, VA on 29 or 30 April 1863, briefly at the Old Capitol Prison in Washington, DC, and exchanged on 13 May 1863. He was captured 29 March 1865 as a "rebel deserter" and sent to Washington, DC, where he took an oath of allegiance. He was released and provided transportation to Philadelphia, PA.
