Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 21 year old worker on his parent's farm at Burkettsville in Attala County, MS. He enlisted at Rocky Point, Attala County as a Private in Company B, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 1 September 1861. He was wounded on 30 May 1862 (at Seven Pines, VA?) and on furlough, but returned to duty, date not given.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a Richmond, VA hospital on 27 September and was furloughed home for 60 days on 10 October 1862. He was back with his Company by February 1863. He was wounded again, possibly at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863, and was admitted to a Richmond hospital on 23 July with a gunshot wound to his left thigh. He was returned to duty on 9 September 1863. He was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
In 1900 he was a farmer at Zilpha in Attala County, MS.
