Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at West Point, MS as a Private in the Company which became Company L, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 12 May 1862. He and the Company joined the Battalion just before Manassas on 29 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was left behind sick at Frederick, MD and captured in September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick to at least 18 September 1862 then a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He was sent to Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October and declared exchanged on 10 November 1862. He was with his Company into February 1863, but then absent again, sick. He died of typhoid fever in the CS General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA on 9 April 1863.
