Before Sharpsburg

From Oktibbhea County, he enlisted at West Point as a Sergeant in the Company which became Company L, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 12 May 1862. He and the Company joined the Battalion just before Manassas on 29 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He returned to duty on 19 May 1863 and was captured at Fredericksburg on 5 June 1863 but returned to his Company soon after. He was reduced to Private, date not given, and captured again, on the Rapidan River, VA on 2 February 1864 but took an oath of allegiance in Washington and was sent to Philadelphia, PA on 15 March 1864. There is no later military record.
