He enlisted at Columbus as a Private in Company K, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 1 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in hospitals and away from his Company to at least December 1862.
His Company (K) was converted to cavalry and attached as Company F to the 8th (Wade's) Confederate Cavalry (2d Regiment, Mississippi and Alabama Cavalry) in January 1863 and he joined them by June 1863. He was furloughed, sick, on 5 March 1864 and still absent by the end of 1864, the latest record in his military file.
