The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain on 9 September 1863.

After the War

He continued in the Army and transferred to the 30th Infantry on 21 September 1866. He was unassigned on 23 March 1869, to the 4th US Infantry on 10 April 1869, and discharged on 27 October 1870 at his won request. He reentered service as 2nd Lieutenant, First US Artillery on 6 July 1875 but was dismissed on 13 October 1877.
