Before Sharpsburg
Age 27, he enlisted on 25 April 1861 at Crystal Springs, MS and mustered as a Private in Company C, 16th Mississippi Infantry on 18 July 1861 in Corinth, MS.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the back in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was back with his Company by October 1862 and was with them to December 1864, when he was furloughed. He was in a hospital in Meridian, MS in January 1865 with a wound, cause and place not given, and there is no later military record.
