Before Antietam
An 24 year old teamster, he enlisted for three years as a Private in Company B, 11th United States Infantry in Pittsfield (MA?) on 9 September 1861. He was described as being 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall with blue eyes, light hair and dark complexion.
On the Campaign
He died, probably of disease, in camp near Sharpsburg, MD on 2 October 1862 and was buried on the field.
After the War
He was reinterred in the National Cemetery in about 1867.
