Probably known by Philip, he enlisted on 15 March 1862 in Woodville, MS as a Private in Company K of the 16th Mississippi Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was on wounded furlough to at least March 1864, then rejoined his Company by July. He was killed on the Weldon Railroad near Petersburg, VA on 21 August 1864.

His service from his Compiled Military Service Records,1 online from fold3, as George Philip Allguier, also as Philip and G. Philip Allgeyer and Allgair. His Sharpsburg wound is on a casualty list in the New Orleans Times-Picayune of 29 October 1862, as P. Algire. Allgeier is the most common spelling found among similar sounding surnames.
