He enlisted at Woodville, MS on 21 April 1861 and mustered on 27 May 1861 as a Private in Company K of the 16th Mississippi Infantry in Corinth, MS.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the chest in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was thought to be in a hospital in Shepherdstown, VA by November 1862, but by April 1863 presumed to have died of wounds.
