Before Sharpsburg
Age 24, he enlisted on 24 April 1861 at Satantia, MS and mustered as 4th Corporal of Company B, 12th Mississippi Infantry at Corinth, MS on 12 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 24 September 1862 He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA and captured at Greencastle, PA on 5 July 1863. He was paroled and exchanged, and in a camp for former prisoners at Petersburg, VA by 22 August 1863. By then 2nd Corporal, he was mortally wounded on the Weldon Railroad near Petersburg, VA on 21 August 1864 and his left leg was amputated, but he died of wounds at Howard's Grove Hospital in Richmond, VA on 29 August 1864.
