Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted on 24 April 1861 at Vicksburg, MS and mustered as a Private in Company E, 12th Mississippi Infantry on 10 May 1861 in Corinth, MS. He was appointed 3rd Corporal, date not given. He was wounded near Richmond, VA in late June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded again, in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond by 19 October and sent back to his Company on 16 December 1862. He was wounded for the third time by a gunshot to his right shoulder at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863. He was in a Richmond hospital by 20 July and returned to duty on 11 August 1863. He was promoted to 2nd Corporal by June 1864 and was on sick furlough in February 1865, the last record in his military file.
