Before Sharpsburg

Age 30, he enrolled and mustered on 15 May 1861 as a Private in Company F, 19th Mississippi Infantry at Oxford, MS. He was promoted to 5th Sergeant by October 1861 but resigned and returned to Private on 1 January 1862. He was appointed 3rd Sergeant in July or August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 9 October 1862.
