Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 20 year old farmer in Camden, AL, he enlisted there as a Private in Company A, 13th Alabama Infantry on 6 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He survived the combat at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September but was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Federal 6th Army Corps field hospital on the Michael Miller farm at Sharpsburg, but died there of wounds before 2 October 1862.
