Before Antietam

A 21 year old clerk, he enlisted on 30 December 1859 in Newport, KY as a Private in Company E of the 9th United States Infantry. He transferred to Company E, 4th US Infantry, then to Company G, dates not given. He was listed as a deserter on 17 September 1861, but was apprehended and returned to duty 10 days later.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

His service and death from the Registers of Enlistment,1 which has his birthplace as Culluntrun or Culleenatrim in Ireland. His gravesite is on Findagrave.
