Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted in Athens, GA on 17 July 1861 as a Private in the Troup Artillery.
On the Campaign
He was slightly wounded in the face in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was promoted to Corporal on 15 November 1862 and was with his battery to at least the end of 1864, the last record in his file.
After the War
By 1872 he was a lawyer at Elberton in Elbert County, GA and later in that decade in Greensboro, Green County and he worked at least 2 cases before the Georgia Supreme Court, in 1875 and 1878. By 1880 he was a lawyer in Athens, GA. He was appointed US Commissioner to the Fifth Circuit (Southern Georgia) in 1897 and was in that post to at least 1908. In 1910, going by Corry, then age 70, he was a lawyer in general practice with an office at College Avenue and Clayton Street. By September 1912 his office was on Becker Street.

He married Georgia Anne Lyle (1841-1905) in August 1859. He married again, Osceola M "Ossie" Briscoe (1880-1963), a woman 42 years his junior, in September 1906, and they had a daughter Corrie (later Shores, 1908-1996).
