Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 22 year old overseer at Athens, GA. He enlisted there on 12 May 1862 as a Private in the Troup Artillery.
On the Campaign
He was "badly bruised" but not seriously wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was detailed as a teamster to Cabell's Battery in early 1864, and was with the Quartermaster's and Ordnance Department, First Corps when he was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer at Watkinsville, GA.
