Before Antietam

He came to America with his family as a child, and they were living at Thompsonville, Enfield, Hartford County, CT by 1850. In 1860 he was a 17 year old day laborer in Thompsonville. He enlisted on 18 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 27 September.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He reenlisted on 5 January 1864 and was wounded on 3 June 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA. He mustered out on 12 December 1865.

After the War

By 1880 and to at least 1900 he was a machinist in Enfield. In 1910 he was retired and living in Glastonbury, CT.
