Before Antietam

From Enfield. He enlisted on 8 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 27 September.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the leg and captured in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled on 6 October 1862. He reenlisted on 24 December 1863 and was promoted to Corporal on 26 March 1864, but was reduced to Private on 12 August 1865. He mustered out on 12 December 1865.
