Before Antietam

A clock maker's son, in 1860 he was a 39 year old farmer living with his parents and 2 younger siblings in Litchfield, CT. He enlisted and mustered as a Private in Company C, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 5 October 1861.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the face in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He reenlisted on 24 December 1863 and mustered out on 12 December 1865.

After the War

In 1880 he was an unmarried laborer living with his brother Edward in Torrington, CT.
