From Meriden, CT. He enlisted on 18 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 23 September.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He reenlisted on 24 December 1863 but was mortally wounded in the assault on Fort Darling in the defenses of Richmond, VA on 16 May 1864 and died on 18 July 1864.
