Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Morganton on 22 April 1861 as a Private in Company E, 2nd Georgia Infantry. He was sick in a Richmond, VA hospital from 8 July 1862 to 2 August.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharspburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was back in a Richmond hospital by 28 October and a patient to at least December 1862. He was with his Company to at least February 1865, when he was last paid, and was surrendered at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
