Before Antietam
He enlisted and mustered at Pottsville, PA on 25 October 1861 as a Private in Company K, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by a gunshot, probably in action at Crampton’s Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital at Camp B in Frederick, MD on 13 November and sent on to Baltimore on 7 March 1863. He was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on 11 February 1864.
