Before Antietam

A 28 year old farmer, he enlisted in Philadelphia on 6 June 1861 as a Private in Company K, 3rd United States Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded by a gunshot to his right knee in action at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He reenlisted in New York City on 28 March 1864 but was discharged on 3 June 1864.

After the War

He was living in Camden, NJ by 1893 and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Soldier's Home in Erie on 4 August 1903. He died there 4 days later.
