Before Antietam
In 1860 he was a 33 year old moulder living with his mother and 3 younger siblings in Albany, NY. He enlisted there on 19 April 1861 and mustered on 17 May as a Corporal in Company I, 18th New York Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
