Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was an 18 year old farmer at Boon Hill in Johnston County, NC. He was conscripted in Raleigh on 15 July 1862 as a Private in Company C, First North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862; originally thought to have been wounded, but "not heard from since. Supposed to be dead."
