Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a married 29 year old farmer at Centreville in Bibb County, AL. He enlisted at Scottsville in Dallas County as a Private in Company B, 44th Alabama Infantry on 31 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was "seriously" wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He returned to his company in about December 1863 served to at least October 1864.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was again a farmer in Bibb County.

His service from the State of Alabama,1 who have his birth in South Carolina. He's also on a Sharpsburg casualty list in the Richmond (VA) Enquirer of 17 October 1862. Personal details from family genealogists and the US Census of 1860-1880. His gravesite is on Findagrave.

He married Hariett J. Brown (1826-1881) in October 1850 and they had 6 children.

His brother John Columbus Deason (1836-1899) was also in Company B, but was absent ill and not at Sharpsburg.
