A married 26 year old farmer at Scottsville in Bibb County, AL, he enlisted there as a Private in Company B, 44th Alabama Infantry on 29 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the foot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the CS Army General Hospital in Selma, AL on 1 December 1862. He returned to duty by April 1863 and was with his company to at least October 1864.
