Before Sharpsburg
Probably known by Jackson, in 1860 he was a 38 year old farmer at Six Mile in Bibb County, AL. He gave his age as 35 and home as Shelby Springs, AL when he enlisted there (or at Columbiana) on 8 April 1862, and he mustered as a Private in Company D, 44th Alabama Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action and left behind at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and not heard from afterward; later listed as killed there.

He's also on a Sharpsburg casualty list in the Richmond (VA) Enquirer of 17 October 1862, which says only that he was wounded at Sharpsburg. He married Harriet Batchelder (1822-) in December 1840 in Muscogee, GA and they had 9 children between 1841 and 1860.
