Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a married 30 (26?) year old mechanic at Centereville in Bibb County, AL. He enlisted at Six Mile, AL on 4 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company F, 44th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 26 September, furloughed home on 9 (or 13) October, and returned to duty on 9 January 1863. He was killed at Raccoon Mountain near Chattanooga, TN on 28 October 1863. His widow Margaret C Corley filed for his final pay in August 1864.
