Before Sharpsburg

A married 25 year old farmer at Maplesville in Bibb County, AL, he enlisted at Randolph, AL on 24 April 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 44th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the foot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to Winder Hospital #4 in Richmond, VA on 30 September (or 1 October) and furloughed for 30 days on 3 October 1862. He was again in a hospital in Richmond for a gunshot wound (new? old?) in July 1863, was back with his company by May 1864 but was detailed as a teamster by July. He was captured in Richmond on 3 April 1865.
