Before Sharpsburg

A married 22 year old farmer at Arbacoochee, AL, he enlisted there as a Private in Company I, 44th Alabama Infantry on 24 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the hand in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #1 in Richmond, VA on 27 September, sent on wounded furlough on 14 October, and was absent to at least October 1863. He was slightly wounded again, in the toe in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and again furloughed home. He was surrendered and paroled at Talladega, AL on 17 May 1865.
