Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 17 year old farmer on his parents' place at Blue Pond in Cherokee County, AL. He enlisted at Fair Play, AL on 6 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 44th Alabama Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the neck in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds in Winchester, VA on 27 September 1862.
